Pillars Women's Ministry

Pillars Bible Study - Fall 2018

As we prayed over the study for this season, we were reminded of stories of hardship, suffering, and facing the unexpected. We've heard from you and felt the Lord asking us to provide the Pillars women with encouragement and the truth found in God's Word on this subject specifically.  This study on the book of Job, led by Lisa Harper, was just published in July 2018 and we pray it will equip us to thrive in the face of adversity and view "pain not as a punishment but as a promotion from God."

We were also inspired by Lisa's personal story and an article on the importance of single women as leaders in the church in selecting this study for you.  We're excited for what Lord has in store for us this Fall.

We hope you will join us!

From the study description:
Discover the Redemptive Side to Job's Story of Suffering. Joy is the constant companion of the woman who trusts in the Lord. And while you can find it in friends, family, and circumstances, unfailing, persistent joy will only ever overflow from your relationship with Jesus.

Just ask Job, the man from Uz who clung to God’s goodness while all his worldly joys were stripped away. But how is it possible to hold onto such joy in times of sorrow? In this study by Lisa Harper, discover the redemptive side to Job’s story of suffering. Learn to use pain to strengthen your faith, point others to the gospel, and remember God’s providence will never take you to a place where His grace will not sustain you.

All women are invited to come by our weekly coffees hosted in various homes of Portico Investors. This is simply an opportunity to connect with other women to grow in relationships with one another. Children are welcome and encouraged to join, but you do not need to have children to attend. We'll have coffee and kids can play while the ladies get a chance to fellowship. Come and go anytime 9:30 am - 11:30 am. Please feel free to invite others--you do not need to attend Portico to come by. You can contact the host via text for the address and all addresses can be found in the monthly Pillars email sent at the beginning of each month.

Why the name Pillars?

In examining this scripture, we have been struck by the significance of a corner pillar.  A corner pillar is historically both lovely and functional.  It is vital to the entire structure and is intended to bring glory to something greater than itself.  In addition, we are each vital in our homes, families, and church community. We desire that all the women of Portico grow in their relationship with the Lord and function with the grace and beauty of a corner pillar.  It is with this in mind our women’s ministry is called Pillars.

Because we seek to follow Christ and grow closer to Him, we look to John 1:14, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” We wish to be filled with His grace and truth as we fellowship and study the Word together.
