But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-- by grace you have been saved. Ephesians 2:4-5
At Portico, we do not want to be a people that merely have a mercy ministry or do mercy. We want to be merciful people, transformed by the power of the gospel. As we daily experience the mercy of God extended to us through Christ, we consider others better than ourselves. Brodie Downs, our Deacon of Mercy, regularly talks and meets with members of our community who are in financial need. To contact Brodie, please email [email protected].
Traditionally, every December Portico Church has hosted our homeless neighbors for two weeks in December. This is a church-wide effort to house, fellowship with, and feed these men. PACEM is a non-profit organization that works locally with churches during the cold winter months to provide a warm place for our homeless community to sleep. If you're interested in taking on a leadership role in this ministry, please contact Joe at [email protected].
