JOIN US FOR SUNDAY SERVICES AT 9AM & 11AM
Connect is our ministry to 7th-12th graders with the purpose of fostering a community of students passionate about Being and Building the Church.
Portico's Connect student ministry focuses on building and strengthening relationships with students around the person of Jesus Christ. Our hope is to see the Gospel radically transform our students as well as transform their relationships with God and others. We’re guided by three principles:
The Gospel of Christ is a lot like a rock being dropped into water; when it collides with our hearts, it is going to make waves. When we discover our Savior for the first time our lives are going to look different from that point until eternity. Connect is a place where students will always have a chance to discover Jesus through the reading and teaching of scripture.
God designed us to be relational with him and with others; we can’t do it alone. Community with others helps us deepen in our understanding of Christ’s life means for our life. Community also gives us the opportunity to help others understand the gospel for their own life. We can’t help each other if we don’t need each other. Connect is a place where students will always give students that chance to deepen in Christ with one another through one-to-one mentoring as well as group discussions and prayer.
Jesus never sought to create a religion; his intention was to share God’s passion for his creation. He loves us so much, He added humanity to his divinity so that he might be our perfect sacrifice. We believe that the world’s greatest need is a redeemed relationship with God and until the world knows him, she will never be happy. Connect is a place where we equip and grow students to share Christ with others in their friendships, with the City and with the world.
We gather as a large group on Sunday afternoons at 4p.m. for games, teaching and age-specific discussion groups, but we also meet up outside of group. Whether it is to watch a movie at someone's house or hangout and talk over food, we want to know, and be involved with, our students so that we can help the gospel impact even the little day-to-day occurrences.
