JAMIE STOKES:
Elder
Spending most of his youth in the Richmond area, Jamie came to know Jesus as a child. He attended James Madison University, and upon graduation, was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army. Specializing in military intelligence, Jamie was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. During this time, Jamie was deployed to the Phillippines for four months and to Afghanistan for a year. Jamie left the Army in 2005 to work as a civilian in the intelligence field in Charlottesville. In December 2007, he received his masters in Foreign Affairs, with an emphasis on South Asia, from the University of Virginia.
He began attending Portico in early 2006. Over the past three years, Jamie has served in a variety of areas. As a community group leader, Jamie taught and facilitated discussion based on the weekly sermon. An avid student of theology, Jamie regularly teaches sections of the Gospel Class. In October 2008, Jamie was installed as an elder. Jamie’s wife Jen serves on the staff as Director of Adminstration and Communication.
Jamie and his wife, Jen, have one daughter, Campbell. His brother- and sister-in-law, David and Kendra Aylor, are also investors at Portico, where they attend with their daughter, Sophia.
